The NP
Classic & France Mountain Passes Training Series:
This is part of our training series for the
Native Planet Classic and
Passes of the Pyrenees.

About this Ride: It is a challenging climb and only people with
sufficient base miles should attempt the climb to Snoqualmie pass.

Ride Start: Issaquah Park & Ride
(17th Ave NW)

Meet at: 8:30 a.m. Start at: 9:00 a.m. (Please be ready before 9AM)

Difficulty and required experience: The ride is 85 miles with
4850ft of climbing.
Although it is a long ride early in the season, the second half of the
ride is mostly downhill but may be prone to headwinds. All riders are expected
to be sufficiently fit and self-sufficient to participate in this ride. There
will only be planned re-groups in the first few miles to get out of town. Once
the climbing starts, people are encouraged to ride at their own pace following
the cue-sheets. All riders should carry at least 2 spare tubes, a pump and a basic
tool kit. There will be no sweep on this ride.

Pace: Brisk (16 to 18) and Strenuous
(20-25 mph).
This ride will be led at two different paces: Brisk and Strenuous. Cue sheets will be offered at the start and stronger riders are welcome to ride upfront. Slower riders who are comfortable reading a cue sheet and solving possible mechanical problems are also welcome to join in

Lunch stop: Many will stop at the Snoqualmie Pass for a short break and a snack, but there will not be any formal lunch stop. We don’t want our legs to go numb.

After Ride Feed: We will meet at the Issaquah Brewhouse to regain some of the lost calories and share our favorite cycling and other stories.
Issaquah Brewhouse, 35 W. Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027, Phone: 425-557-1911.

Safety Issues: This ride is recommended for experienced cyclists.
Although we encourage people to ride at their own pace, we emphasize safety and
strict adherence to the traffic rules. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Cancellation: Heavy rain cancels/group decision in case of drizzle/light
rain. If enough riders don’t mind getting wet, we will lead the ride in a
drizzle or light rain. Snow or ice on the Pass cancels (we will choose an
alternate challenging course in the lower valley).

Note:
It is our first Native Planet Classic training ride, but only people with
sufficient base miles should attempt the climb to Snoqualmie pass. Our next
training ride may not be longer, but will be more challenging to prepare you for
our Native Planet Classic, the Super-Torture Super Century and the French
Mountain Passes. Check our website for coming updates.
