RAMROD (Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day) 2005 RAMROD, organized by the Redmond Cycling Club (RCC), is a rare opportunity for a challenging, organized ride in the incomparable scenery of Mount Rainier National Park. The 154-mile course features 10,000 feet of elevation gain over two mountain passes and is not for the unconditioned—or the faint-hearted! Visit the RCC for more details. We Rode RAMROD 4 a Reason! Jean-Philippe Soulé, Native Planet founder, joined cyclists including riders from the Cascade Bicycle Club, Redmond Cycling Club, Seattle Bike Club and Seattle International Randonneurs in riding RAMROD 2005 to raise awareness of the ever-increasing threats to indigenous cultures worldwide. The team, all of whom finished the ride, was highly visible in custom jerseys proclaiming Native Planet’s mission to promote, protect and preserve the precious heritage of indigenous cultures. Quotes from RAMROD participants "Representing Native Planet’s mission to maintain the integrity of threatened habitats and peoples could not have been better reinforced than by experiencing a depth of renewal from the awesome beauty of nature--without which I may well have died part way up Cayuse Pass!"-- Seattle engineer Jim McCulloch Join Us Next Time!
You don't have to be an experienced cyclist, ride RAMROD or live in Washington State to join the
Native Planet Outdoor Club: everyone everywhere is welcome to join our team and assist indigenous peoples’ causes worldwide! |
