Fundraising Tip Sheet Tell everyone you know and ask for help Reach out to as many people as possible, whether it’s by word of mouth, email or a letter--your unique story is worth sharing. Ask your friends to help you. If you don’t ask, people won’t help or donate. Give them enough information to encourage their interest and donations. Create a network of supporters Ask for the help of family and friends to brainstorm ways that they can help you. Know someone who is a fantastic cook, seamstress or jewelry maker? Host a silent auction for a gourmet dinner for two, tailoring or a specially designed necklace. Car washes, 5K fun runs, theme parties and yard sales are also fun and profitable—especially with help from your friends. Seek support from other cyclists and athletes Contact your local cycling, triathlon or other sport clubs and ask them to support your efforts by including an article in their newsletter, letting you address their membership at the next meeting or being your official sponsor. Always be sure to include the link to NativePlanet.org. Seek support from local business Ask local businesses to donate a portion of proceeds from their sales on a particular day to support your charity. They can also donate goods or services such as certificates, hotel stays, dog grooming, spa days, etc. for that silent auction—or simply put a donation canister next to their cash register. REMEMBER: ASK, ASK and ASK some more! |
