50 riders started the
North Torture Century
in 2007.
Only 12 finished! Do you have what it takes to ride those 58 miles?
Find out by joining us for some of the best climbing around Seattle. This
year it remains a free NP Outdoor Club ride, but it may be a fully supported Native
Planet fundraiser next time around as it quickly gains the fame it deserves.
Invite all your friends to come and ride with us on this challenging local ride.

In June will be combining both metric-centuries to offer the
most challenging
super-century in the Pacific Northwest.

RSVP Required! -
Contact us
as we will
only provide cue-sheets by email to NPOC members and to those who have sent their RSVP to us no
later than the Friday before by 9:00 PM. This Ride will be
limited to the first 80 RSVPs, Please let us know the distance you’re aiming for, your pace, and your emergency contact name and phone number.

About this Ride: The Native Planet Torture Century Southern Edition is a unique way to
discover most of the scenic and challenging hills in the vicinity of
Redmond, Bellevue and Issaquah. J-Philippe Soulé and Jeff Tanka have designed
an entire century just around those hills, so you’ll have the chance to meet
them all. Some you will love and some you might hate; fortunately, the ride will
be modular so it’s easy to omit the steepest hills from your route or even cut
the entire ride short before you bonk.

Cue-sheets will be available upon email request, and all cyclists riding at any pace are welcome. We will start and finish at the
Marymoor Velodrome in Redmond.

Donations to Native Planet are appreciated but not required. If you like this ride and would like to support the Native Planet cause, you can donate to Native Planet directly from its
website, and/or support the Native Planet Outdoor Club by
becoming a member, and/or purchasing a
jersey or
water bottle

Ride Start: Marymoor Velodrome parking lot (Marymoor Park), Redmond, WA.

Meet at: 7:30 a.m. Start at: 8:00 a.m. (All participants must sign
the release form by 7:45 AM. Please be ready and on your bike for the route
briefing at 7:50 AM.)

Difficulty: The longest guided route is 58 miles with
more than
6000ft of climbing, but there are many ways to short-cut the most challenging
hills and some distance. For most people, in spite of the distance but because
of the amount of climbing, it will be an all day ride.

This ride is one of the most challenging metric centuries in the Seattle area, but we
stayed true to our modular approach, and there are many possibilities to skip
hills and shorten the distance (indicated on the cue-sheet).

Lunch stop: None planned. Make sure to bring some snacks and your
favorite energy food (small daily stores on the way).

After Ride Feed: NPOC members, their family and friends are all invited
to the NPOC Party (RSVP required by Thursday).

Safety Issues: This ride is recommended for experienced brisk to
strenuous cyclists.
We encourage people to ride at their own pace and we emphasize safety and
strict adherence to traffic rules. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Cancellation: No cancellations.

Note:
This is a NP Classic & France Mountain Passes Training ride; the climbs are challenging and it is a
self-guided route. J-Philippe will ride the course at a brisk pace and welcome
all those who want to join him.
